1947
Letter from Sir Alexander Fleming to the pioneers of Antibiotics.
1954
Foundation of Antibióticos, S.A.as a pioneer in the manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) with the largest fermentation (beta-lactam antibiotics) capacity in Europe.
1969
Starts manufacture of Ampicillin, Amoxicillin and other Sterile beta-lactams.
1972
First FDA inspection (USA). Antibióticos becomes a global leader.
1990
China enters into the production of penicillanic derivatives at a lower operating cost. Declining of leadership global position starts.
1992
Installation of the new Water Treatment plant.
2013
The advance of Asian countries in the sector brings Antibióticos bankrupt.
2014 – 2020: ADL BIOPHARMA
2014
The investment fund Black Toro Capital (BTC) acquires the assets in a bankruptcy process and Antibióticos de León, S.L.U, with trade name ADL BioPharma is established. Production activity is reactivated.
2015
The facilities are inspected and approved by the AEMPS.
2016
ADL obtains FMA from PMDA (Japan) and GMP approval from KFDA (Korea).
2017
The plant is audited and tested by the FDA (USA). The main fermentation facilities are revamped and updated with 8 fermenters of 225 m3.
2017
A new business strategy is defined, based on the use of fermentation capacity for use as CMO of non-Pharma grade molecules and the breaking of verticality in Pharma production, keeping only chemical production, mainly sterile.
2018
Reverse acquisition of Bionaturis by ADL BioPharma, creating the holding company ADL Bionatur, listed on BME Growth. Production focused in Biotech Markets.
2020
COVID-19 crisis takes a big toll on ADL and Kartesia, a new shareowner, takes control of the company introducing significant changes in both the Board of Directors and its management team.
2021- YTD: RELAUNCH OF ADL BIOPHARMA PROJECT
2021
Kartesia executes the purchase option whereby it acquires 100% of the shares. Turn around of the business starts and new ADL BioPharma is launched.
